K10 XJS
This 1993 4.0 XJS was looking a bit sorry for herself when she first arrived at our workshop. She had obviously sat for some time on grass and there was moss growing in places on the car itself. The owner felt she deserved a new lease of life, so KWE were glad to oblige.
The first task was to get the suspensions off and stripped. After shotblasting & powdercoating most of the metal bits and reconditioning the steering rack and brake calipers, the suspensions are re-assembled with new bushes, mounts, bearings, brake hoses etc and are refitted to the car. In the process of reassembly, we take care to grease all screws, nuts etc and we waxoyl the subframes themselves to give protection. Whilst the suspensions were off we sent the lattice wheels to be refurbished. The car was then stripped of exterior trim in preparation for the bodywork repairs.
On return from the bodyshop the suspensions were refitted then we set about replacing all the engine hoses and belts as part of our Service and Perishables. We then serviced the electrics and replaced the drooping headlining and she was ready to be reunited with her owner.

The door seal track had become warped and so the seal was ineffective. We corrected this with a new track on both sides and the car is now better protected from the elements. |
Beneath the ambla trim on the door was a victim of dampness caused by the door seals not fitting properly. The door card was beyond use and so it was replaced. |
Part of the remit was to renew the suspensions. This picture shows the level of rusting on the underside of the car, which obviuosly makes it very difficult to remove and strip down the assemblies - but they're worth it! |
A fault in the build process means that we see many of the later facelift cars with this problem. It is fixable and the driver will no longer be subjected to water on the knee. |

This was the rear view before we started stripping off the trim for repairs to the sills and valances. The bumper chromes were slightly misshapen as well as rusting. |
Moss growing along the rear bumpers hinted at what was beneath. |
It may be mostly hidden from view when the bumpers go back on, but we take the same care in repairing, painting and protecting these areas as we do with visible panels such as the bonnet |
The other valance was just as bad! |

Again, the repaired panel looks as new and will be protected better than new with a wash of waxoyl. |
In common with many other cars this one had serious rust problems at the sill ends. |
With some new metal welded into place and liberal application of waxoyl, this sill should resist rust for a long time to come. |
The front suspension assembly has been rebuilt and is just about to be fitted to the car. |

Although the car did not have a full respray, she looks fantastic for a twenty year old car. |
With the repairs completed and the wheels refurbished the car is ready to be returned to her proud owner. |
