WAG 27X

This car is an example of a classic bought for every day use and it has certainly done some miles in our client's ownership - almost 23,000 since 2009! It is also another example of an upgrade project spanning time as we have had it in our workshops at least once a year since it was purchased.

The first part of the upgrade began in February 2009 with a suspension renewal, power enhancement and a service and perishables amongst other things. Our client has a fairly long commute so reliability and comfort were top priority.

In early 2010 we saw the car for its first 7500 mile service and to fit HID bulbs in the headlamps. The client had also reported some problems with the electrics that, upon investigation, turned out to be the result of rodents chewing through some wiring as well as having a go at a hose or two. I think there was a very embarrassed cat in that household!

In November 2010 the car was back again, this time for a large bore exhaust which gives more power at full throttle and has a great sound.

October 2011 saw the car in the workshop for another 7500 mile service and some minor fettling.

Rusty rear Renewed rear suspension Spark plugs Plus torque in

Once removed, the rear suspension was stripped down to its components and cleaned ready for shot blasting & powder coating before rebuilding. Stripping can be a laborious process as everything is rusty!

Rear suspension renewal includes shotblasting, zinc coating & powder coating the subframe and all other metal parts for protection, refurbishment of calipers, new brake discs, pads and hoses, replacement of all bushes, new springs and new adjustable dampers.

At KWE we often witness the short cuts taken by some garages when supposedly servicing a car. This is a common sight in a V12 - 2 of the 12 plugs are particularly difficult to get to so they are quite often not changed.

The power enhancement kit is installed. The benefits of this installation is an increase of around 30bhp and between 1 and 2 mpg economy.

Rodent damage A very lovely car

We have seen at least three cars which have suffered from rodent damage. In this picture you can actually see the teeth marks!
