2008 Budget - A good reason to buy modernised cars

The Chancellor has opted to penalise those who choose to buy large-engined cars.

Jaguar E1From 2009 road tax will increase from £400 to £440 for new, over 4 litre Jaguar XJ cars; and from 2010 this will rise to £950 in the first year, and £450 per year thereafter.

It is our understanding however that this will not apply to cars first registered before 2001, and so buying a new KWE modernised Jaguar 5.3 litre will save £765 in the first year and £265 per year thereafter.

Furthermore, buying a KWE car instead of a new model means big benefits to the environment since all the environmental costs of producing the donor car for a KWE modernisation have long since been incurred and will not be repeated.

KWE cars have all the benefits of reliability and performance of new cars, without the environmental and taxation costs. And they're beautiful!
