KWE celebrates 40 years of the Jaguar XJS

A big thank you to everyone who visited our workshop this weekend for our open day, celebrating 40 years of the Jaguar XJS. The event was a great success, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

We were delighted to welcome customers old and new to our showroom to join in the birthday celebrations, many bringing along their prized XJS cars.

Classic car and Jaguar enthusiasts from across the country were treated to a motoring spectacle, as Greenham Business Park was awash with an array of stunning Jaguar XJS models.

Some notable cars on site included:

  • The very last XJS Eventer ever built – 6.0 litre TWR version
  • An XJS currently being upgraded with an Omex Digital Engine Management system
  • Six Series XJs and an extensively refurbished X300
  • The day before the event a unique car had been collected from us by its owner. This was a test mule V12 XJS built by Kearns Richards in the 1980s. It was designed to be a racing variant with uprated suspension, uprated brakes and a very special six-litre engine with six double downdraught Weber carburettors. We expect to be restoring this car later in the autumn.

A glimpse into the way we work

Visitors were able to appreciate some of our handy work up close, observing what goes into our expert and thorough restorations. Event goers were invited inside our workshop, allowing a rare opportunity to see exactly how we conduct our specialist work.

Test drives were also offered in our Top Gear-featured show car, giving a few lucky punters a taste for the superior driving quality of the XJS.

Throughout the day, our expert engineers demonstrated various aspects of our services, delivering talks and presentations on engine management, upgrades and modifications, suspension set ups, leather refurbishment and nano coating paintwork. Onlookers were able to observe our meticulous attention to detail and ability to restore classic cars back to ‘better-than-new’ quality.

An XJS good enough to eat

Not all the vehicles on display were made from solid steel, as we had a specially handcrafted XJS of a different kind. This one, however, happened to be made from marzipan and chocolate sponge… Not quite up to our restoration standards, but impressive nonetheless!

The buffet lunch and celebratory cake, served at nearby Liberty Ballroom, were topped off with a 70’s playlist, complete with all the hits from back in the day – perfect for cruising in your XJS.

A big thank you from all at KWE cars

Thanks again to all those who made the effort to pay us a visit, and we hope you continue to enjoy your XJS for many more years to come.
