KWE becomes the go-to place for Lister Jaguars

We have seen a big increase in Lister XJS work coming our way, and have become something of a specialist. These excellent XJS variants usually have the Lister 7 litre V12 which is potentially capable of over 450 bhp normally aspirated, or over 550 bhp with superchargers. They have stunning torque and yet are very drivable – but be careful on wet roads, there is no traction control!

However, Lister did not use good engine management for these monster engines and so they never reach their full potential. While 500 bhp is often claimed for a stock 7 litre, in practice they measure about 350 bhp on a dyno. KWE can correct much of this loss by fitting modern digital engine management, optimised by mapping to each individual engine. This system is also much more reliable, and maintains consistent performance, compared with the modified Lucas system usually installed. We can also vastly improve the air inlet system, and install much improved modern stainless steel exhaust systems.

Later Listers had a revised and strengthened rear suspension, with large, AP Racing, brake discs and 6 pot callipers. KWE is familiar with all these special systems.

We currently have three Listers in the workshop – a Mk 3 N/A 7 litre engine, a twin supercharged 7 litre XJS Mk 3 Le Mans, and a 7 litre N/A Lister XJS which is Lister Serial Number 1!

Rather rarer is the Lister 7 litre Series 3 XJ saloon which we have enhanced and restored a few years ago – a stunning car! Here are some pictures of KWE Listers: https://buildgallery.kwecars.com/KWE-Listers/n-KkCSnb/
